Rachael Walsh ’12/13 edit

Check out this edit from Rachael Walsh compiled of footage from La Plagne, Mont Tremblant, Hemel Snowdome and Calshot dry slope. Switch 270 on 270 off the boxes; not bad for a university graduate who started ramps and rails only just over a year ago..!

In The Shadow of Men

When scrolling through forums on newschoolers you’ll always come across at least one remark from a faceless person claiming women can hold nothing to the men when it comes to park and pipe. This is pretty much true though. When it comes to competitions men are throwing down far more than the girls, but there are reasons for this. A French freestyle coach I was chatting to recently said that women will never be as good as the men simply because we “carry our weight on our hips” and not our shoulders. This lack of strength up top apparently means that it is harder for women to set and hold rotations. Whether this is the entire truth to the divide between women and men’s skiing I am unsure…

Summerhayes, Raymond and Bertagna: Nine Queens ’13

If you didn’t get to see much of the Nine Queens comp this year then check out this creative and ethereal black and white edit by Iona Fulton. Showing some baller highlights from Katie Summerhayes along with Maude Raymond and Silvia Bertagna. Props to Katie who became the first woman to land a switch 12.

Anna Vincenti – Fortitude

Big up Anna Vincenti who’s had an awesome start to the year coming 6th at the Austrian Freeski open; only a few points behind Canada’s Maude Raymond and also following UK’s Katie Summerhayes who came 2nd in the same competition.
Anna also came 2nd in the BRITS in March and an incredible 9th in the Junior World Champs held in Italy this year.
